CITY PARK

Every time we head out to Launceston City Park with our boys I am reminded why I love Tasmania!

We pack the boys their Scooters and Bikes to ride while we wander around the gorgeous park checking out all the different things to do.
We generally start at the ducks to see if there are any new little ducklings. Today we only saw "The Mummy and Daddy Ducks." According to my 3 year old!
Then its off to the Monkeys - we could spend hours watching them - and we did spend a considerable amount of time there today, the baby monkeys were particularly cute!
Tragedy struck for for us when Mr 18 month old decided to throw one of his shoes into the enclosure!   We called the number on the sign to let the carers know but they didn't seem too concerned, we are just sad we lost a shoe! So be forewarned - if you are going to lift children up to look over the glass make sure they don't have anything within reach that they can throw in!
Carrying on with Mr 18months one shoe less we wandered back to the playground where we took his other shoe off and let him play in his socks!  Lucky for us the train-come-play equipment is covered in soft rubber flooring.  Still, it cut the play time down since we didn't really want him wandering bare foot!

There are so many things to see at City Park that even if we went every week we would not get bored of it.  Along with the above mentioned ducks, monkeys and playground there is also a sensory garden designed to be touched and felt, a plant conservatory, giant chess board, children's train ride around the park, statues and monuments to look at, a gazebo that on special occasions hosts the City Band and probably some things that I have forgotten!  Oh and toilets - a must when going places with young kids who need to go NOW!

City Park is also the location of various events held throughout the year including Festavale and Symphony Under the Stars.

We are so blessed to have such a fun and beautiful place in Tasmania!
