WHITE SAUCE ROUX - FOOD ALLERGY FRIENDLY

A white sauce roux FREE from WHEAT/GLUTEN and DAIRY!

Our household caters to a Dairy allergy, often the substitute for cream and cheese in meals is coconut cream and Soy base products, unfortunately we also  have to work around a Coconut and Soy allergy.

The White Sauce Roux recipe I am sharing is a perfect cream/cheese substitute for all sorts of meals, many of which are shared on this blog (or on their way!)
Recipes like Potato Salad, Creamy pasta, Lasagne all can be catered too with the white sauce as a dairy substitute. It is FANTASTIC!

INGREDIENTS
2 TBS Dairy Free Spread/Margarine (Nuttlex)
     2 TBS Corn Flour
     2 CUPS Rice Milk

Melt Dairy free spread in a saucpan over a Med - High heat.
Once melted add Corn Flour while mixing with a whisk. The flour will absorb all the melted dairy free spread and form a paste.
While continuing to stir the paste poor the rice milk into the saucepan.
From here you will have to very regularly stir your mixture, it may take about 7 - 10min to start to thicken, but once it does you will have to continue to whisk until you reach the thickness your after.

Try adding Stock powders, Garlic and Herbs to adapt the White Sauce Roux to different meals and tastes.
